About the Role: The Director Store Development Services will ensure that real estate and construction activities align with departmental and corporate growth strategies while simultaneously meeting budget and operational objectives. The position is responsible for leading, coordinating and representing Store Development in cross functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The primary functions also include guiding teams in lease administration and data analytics to support real estate and construction operations. This position reports to the VP of Real Estate.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team
    • Provide leadership in problem-solving within the team and across departments.
  • Business Process Optimization and SOP Development
    • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of business processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Store Development
    • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for automation or enhancement.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with trusted business partners
    • Monitor vendor performance to ensure Grocery Outlet's real estate and construction needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight
  • Develop and manage the Store Development SG&A budget, ensuring alignment with overall company financial objectives.
  • Provide support for financial analysis and reporting on real estate and construction projects, identifying cost-saving opportunities and areas for operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Develop risk management strategies to minimize potential legal or financial liabilities associated with real estate transactions and construction operations.
    • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, ensuring real estate and construction practices remain competitive and sustainable.
  • Lease Administration Management
    • Oversee lease negotiations, renewals, and property agreements to ensure favorable terms for the company.
    • Work closely with legal teams to ensure all lease and property documentation is compliant with relevant laws and corporate policies.
  • Special Project Management
    • Lead special projects that arise with swift and systematic execution

About The Pay:

  • Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000 Annually
  • Annual Bonus Program
  • Equity
  • 401(k) Profit Sharing
  • Final compensation will be determined based upon experience and skills and may vary based on location.

About You:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in leading a related functional area. Retail Real Estate or Construction experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration preferred, college degree required
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills required.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced start-up like environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effective with brokers, landlords, attorneys, architects, local government officials, sub-lessors, vendors, independent operators and all Grocery Outlet employees.
