DEFINITION:
The City of Indio Community Development Department is looking for one highly energetic and motivated self-starter to serve in the position of Planning Fellow.

Duties

The Position
The Fellowship position is designed to provide pre- and post-graduate college students with work experience as they prepare for future careers in urban planning or a related field.

Some of the duties include:

• Provide public information and assistance.
• Gather, tabulate and analyze data on a variety of administrative and policy matters.
• Assist department personnel in assigned administrative, planning, fiscal and organizational matters.
• Review project plans, develop recommendations and prepare letters and reports.
• Assist with draft policies and procedures.

• Perform clerical duties and occasional field inspections as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• A completed online application must be submitted along with completion of the supplemental questionnaire.
• A cover letter, resume, and copy of unofficial latest school transcripts must be attached to application.
• The Fellowship Program is open to currently enrolled students either pursuing an Associates, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate degree. A student may either be attending school on a full-time or part-time status.
• No less than an overall C (2.0) grade point average (GPA).
• Must pass a criminal background screening

Additional Information

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Qualified applicants will have completed at least one year of college with some course work in urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, environmental sciences, or a related field. Applicants must possess a valid Class C California drivers' license and a good driving record.
