California Bank & Trust is currently looking for a Director, Commercial Portfolio Manager

Job requirements:

  • Manages a team of Portfolio Managers.
  • Develops and assists in the development of short and long-term policies and objectives.
  • Coordinates and supervises the lending activities of a team of Commercial Portfolio Managers.
  • Responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of commercial loan relationships.
  • Responsible for the overall loan structure and monitoring of credit performance.
  • Functions as a back-up for other Portfolio Managers as needed.
  • Responsible for evaluating credit risk and forming opinions for approving or denying loan applications according to set bank standards in a timely manner.
  • Gathers information as necessary to make sound decisions, including spreading and analyzing financial statements, addressing industry risks and mitigants, collateral requirements, loan structuring and pricing, credit analysis including validation of various underwriting models, policy exception identification, monitoring credit performance and completing loan presentations including new commitments, modifications, and renewals.
  • Recommends exceptions based on findings.
  • May have the authority to structure loans outside the organization's loan policies.
  • Responsible for risk rating assessments and periodic relationship reviews.
  • Consults with clients and internal banking relationship managers to develop objectives, providing advice and counsel.
  • Makes presentations to clients and external audiences regarding investment products and services as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of new laws and regulations related to commercial loans.
  • Expands, builds and maintains client relationships, providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Responsible to hire, fire and performance management for staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related field and 10+ years experience in commercial lending, credit, loan structuring, portfolio management and banking or other directly related experience. Managerial or supervisory experience required. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Requires an extensive in-depth knowledge of loans, portfolio management, credit analysis, underwriting, structuring, loan processing and closing processes and procedures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of loan risk, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to expand loan portfolios and client relationships.
  • Excellent management, problem solving and analysis skills. Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to train, lead and mentor a team of relationship managers.
  • Must be able to meet and interact with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Excellent relationship building and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other office software.
  • Applies highly advanced concepts in decision-making and problem-solving activities.

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $248,000 - $303,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience.

This position will be open until filled.
