Job Description: Nuclear Medicine TechnologistnPosition Summary:nA Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals, operates imaging equipment, and works closely with physicians to diagnose and treat diseases. This role combines technical expertise with patient care and safety practices.nnKey Responsibilities:nPatient Preparation:nnInterview and screen patients prior to proceduresnnExplain test procedures and ensure informed consentnnPosition patients correctly for scansnnRadiopharmaceutical Handling:nnPrepare and administer radioactive drugsnnMonitor patients for adverse reactionsnnAdhere to safety protocols for storage and disposalnnImaging and Equipment Operation:nnOperate gamma cameras, PET/CT scanners, and related equipmentnnCapture diagnostic images as ordered by a physiciannnCalibrate and maintain imaging equipmentnnData Management:nnProcess and analyze scan datannPrepare detailed diagnostic reports for physician interpretationnnMaintain accurate patient and procedure recordsnnSafety and Compliance:nnFollow radiation safety procedures and monitor exposure levelsnnComply with state, federal, and institutional regulationsnnParticipate in quality assurance and control programsnnCollaboration:nnWork with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare providersnnAssist in scheduling and coordinating imaging proceduresnnTrain and supervise student technologists or new staffnnQualifications:nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related fieldnnCertification by:nnARRT (Nuclear Medicine – NM) ornnNMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board)nnStrong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and radiopharmaceuticalsnnExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsnnLicensure and Certification Requirements by State:nLicensing requirements for NMTs vary by state.
