Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Renovation Project Manager Consultant will lead the end-to-end execution of a major sterile processing renovation within a healthcare facility. This role focuses on the safe closure of centralized sterilization operations and the seamless transition of services to temporary on‑site or off‑site locations while maintaining uninterrupted sterile supply support to the operating rooms and other procedural areas.

This consultant will coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of sterile operations, regulatory compliance, and patient safety throughout the renovation process.

This position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in healthcare operations, process improvement, and complex project execution under regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the sterile processing renovation project, including assessment, planning, execution, and post-renovation evaluation.
  • Develop comprehensive project timelines, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies to guide the closure and relocation of sterile processing operations.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional activities between Sterile Processing, Operating Rooms, Infection Prevention, Facilities, Construction Management, and Supply Chain departments.
  • Oversee the safe and compliant relocation of sterilization equipment and instrument inventories to temporary sites.
  • Develop and document process flows and communication protocols to maintain clear visibility of instrument movement and sterilization status.
  • Provide on‑site leadership during the assessment and transition phases; gradually transition to remote oversight as the project progresses.
  • Identify and communicate project risks and operational issues to leadership; develop and monitor mitigation plans.
  • Facilitate staff training on interim workflows and operational changes.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Project Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years managing complex operational or facility renovation projects in healthcare settings.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale transitions involving multiple departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Must have knowledge of healthcare and operating room processes and procedures.

Skills

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations and surgical workflows; sterile processing expertise preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with proven experience in process improvement and risk management.
