Security officers are responsible for maintaining the overall security of a property. They use various tactics to prevent theft, vandalism, and damage to properties. They may patrol the property in a vehicle, maintain records of entries and exits at a front desk or gate, sign visitors in and out, and monitor deliveries. They assist guests with information and directions. Employees protect the property and its inhabitants from fire risks and other safety violations. They respond to emergency situations by communicating with emergency personnel and may handle physical threats by restraining offenders. They also maintain parking regulations and the security of the parking lot. A security officer must remain alert at all times, constantly aware of risks and concerns.
