Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Commercial HVAC Service Technician in Palm Desert, CA to maintain cooling systems for commercial properties in the Coachella Valley.
Impact
• Maintain critical cooling systems that protect occupant comfort during extreme desert heat
• Minimize equipment failures through proactive preventive maintenance programs
• Improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs by optimizing HVAC system performance
• Support business operations by ensuring reliable climate control for commercial tenants
• Build client trust through responsive service and technical problem-solving
Responsibilities
• Service commercial HVAC equipment including large RTUs, split systems, and exhaust fans
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures involving compressors, fans, motors, and controls
• Test refrigerant charge, airflow, and control sequences to ensure proper cooling performance
• Replace filters, belts, bearings, and other wear items during scheduled maintenance visits
• Respond to service calls to restore cooling operations quickly during hot weather
• Inspect electrical components and test capacitors, contactors, and motor windings
• Complete service documentation and provide clients with recommendations for repairs or upgrades
• Coordinate with facility managers to schedule maintenance and minimize disruptions
• Maintain company vehicle and ensure proper stock of parts and tools
Requirements
Must-Haves
• 3+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
• EPA Universal refrigerant certification
• Strong troubleshooting skills for cooling systems and controls
• Valid California driver's license
• Physical ability to work in extreme heat conditions
Nice-to-Haves
• NATE certification in commercial HVAC service
• Experience with large tonnage cooling equipment
• Familiarity with building automation systems
• OSHA 10 certification
