Job Title: SecOps Engineer
Location-Type: Hybrid (3-5 days/week onsite in Chicago, IL)
Start Date Is: Early January
Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Compensation Range: $70.00-$82.00/hr on W2 ONLY! Converting salary of $120k-$130k/yr.

Job Description:
Serve as the in-house cybersecurity SME, driving security policy creation, auditing existing infrastructure, and enabling secure modernization of IT systems across multi-cloud environments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and optimize current security technologies and policies
• Collaborate with MLB to leverage shared cybersecurity resources and licenses
• Draft, enforce, and maintain security policies
• Mentor junior SecOps staff
• Serve as the point of contact for internal and external security stakeholders
• Conduct audits and assess GCP, AWS, and internal systems for compliance
• Align business objectives with cybersecurity needs and controls
• Recommend and implement security improvements
• Support onboarding and training for seasonal staff

• Must-Haves:
  
  • Proven experience across GCP, AWS, and cybersecurity best practices
  • Strong working knowledge of Gmail, GCP, and integrations with Python
  • Familiarity with tools such as Crowdstrike, Palo Alto, Netskope, and Darktrace
  • Autonomous mindset and proactive problem-solver
  • Ability to write, enforce, and communicate security policies
  • Comfortable working in lightly documented environments
  • Ability to work well and adapt to shared security models
• Nice-to-Haves:
  
  • Experience mentoring junior cybersecurity staff
  • SQL/database familiarity for data analytics support
  • Exposure to Netskope, Cisco Umbrella, OKTA, Mimecast
  • Familiarity with seasonal or high-turnover environments
