Field Service Engineer (REMOTE)

Description:

Our client, a global leader in advanced manufacturing processes and a key supplier of additive and subtractive machine tools, is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer. This role is responsible for CNC machine tool startup, installation, and troubleshooting complex electrical systems on both the shop floor and at customer sites. The position offers significant domestic and international travel and room for professional growth.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform startup and installation of CNC machine tools at customer and shop locations
• Troubleshooting of fluid and electrical servo-activated systems
• Diagnose and resolve issues with closed and open-loop axes control
• Load and configure initial CNC software, logic, and parameters
• Apply machine geometry compensation to CNC axes
• Mentor and train junior system engineers Qualifications:
• 2-5 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of AC/DC circuits
• Experience with ladder logic or programming for CNC systems
• Skilled in CNC geometry and axis drive parameters tuning
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and fluid schematics
• Effective communication, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 90% domestically and rarely internationally

Preferred Skills:
• Technical degree (preferred)
• Electrical background, especially from military experience, will be prioritized

Location & Compensation:
• Main work site, Rockford, IL Candidate can live anywhere that has a major airport near their residence.
** No travel options for candidates in Portland, OR and Groton, CT
• Compensation: $30-$40/hour + 1.5x overtime **Per diem: $180/day (prepaid for lodging and meals, no receipts required)
