POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Sr. Java developer's primary role is to support DESE and work on AWS migration in conjunction with the Shared Applications Architect and Release Management teams. MassHealth is looking for motivated individuals that seek-out public service as an opportunity to expand their knowledge, gain valuable experience, and give back to the community. This position is anticipated to be a minimum six-month engagement with the possibility of being extended for a longer term.

Job Duties: (Detailed list of Responsibilities)

• Responsible for the analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and documentation in the development and maintenance of critical MassHealth applications
• ccountable for full systems development life cycle including system architecture documents; technical design documents, release management guide, deployment plan documents, and other technical artifacts
• Prepare SQL scripts for modifying and maintaining data. Write optimized queries, views for integration with other applications
• Document and maintain code using change control software
• Support cross-functional projects and integrated business solutions to enhance stakeholder capabilities and efficiencies
• Work with cross-functional teams to manage projects, create statement of work and communicate progress on goals to both technical and non-technical groups

REQUIRED SKILLS (Special Skill Set, Abilities, Knowledge ):

• Experience in building high quality applications by creating a well-designed architecture, writing clean code and implementing industry standards, design concepts and design patterns.
• Must have successfully delivered complex applications by collaborating with non-technical team members including quality assurance, business analysts, release engineers and project managers.
• Expert knowledge of Java/J2EE Stack including Apache, Tomcat, Linux
• Expert level knowledge on developing multi-tier enterprise level web-based applications using J2EE technologies, Hibernate, Spring and XML/XSLT and Multi-threading concepts
• Expert knowledge of PHP, AJAX, Spring Boot, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery2.x/3.0, CSS and Angular JS (2.0 or higher) or Node JS
• Expert knowledge in Web Services (Restful and SOAP) and security
• Knowledge on technologies such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash and other big data concepts
• Hands-on experience working with AWS core services and deploying cloud-based solutions using AWS services such as VPCs, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Glue, IAM, SQS, CloudWatch, Route53, ALB Code Pipeline etc.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Years' Experience, Certificates):

• Bachelor's degree in a computer science or a related field or relevant work experience
• 8+ years' experience programming in a team environment.
• Strong working knowledge and experience in programming with Oracle and Java/J2EE technologies.

• Proven ability to write well-designed, efficient, and testable code
