POSITION SUMMARY:

Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking an experienced Branch Manager / Senior Structural Engineer to lead Mackin's Harrisburg Office, overseeing both technical structural engineering and bridge inspection projects as well as operational, financial, and business development activities. This position blends advanced engineering expertise with strategic leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, client satisfaction, and continued regional growth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Harrisburg office, including setting goals, developing business plans, and implementing strategies to achieve growth targets.
• Oversee project management, resource allocation, and workload balancing among engineering and administrative teams.
• Provide bridge inspection, analysis, and structural engineering services in compliance with PennDOT and NBIS standards.
• Conduct inspections of all bridge and structure types; prepare reports using BMS3, and National Bridge Elements (NBE).
• Perform structural design calculations, analyses, and bridge load ratings using software such as STAAD.
• Develop reports, drawings, specifications, review and seal structural plans and inspection reports.
• Oversee quality control (QA/QC) for inspection and design work performed by team members.
• Mentor and train less experienced engineers and designers in bridge inspection and structural design.
• Manage and monitor bridge inspection project budgets, scopes, and schedules.
• Support internal departments with structural and inspection services across multiple disciplines.
• Familiarity with PennDOT and PA Turnpike policies, standards, and specifications.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering experience, including structural design, bridge inspection, and management responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania (PE in OH, MD, or WV a plus)
• Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong business acumen and understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis. Proven ability to develop and execute successful business development strategies, cultivate client relationships, and win new projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
