Project Document Controller/Writer

Description:

For this role, we are looking to find a Project Document Controller / Writer with proven success meeting end-user documentation needs in technical programs, such as physical and electronic security systems, design and construction management, risk management, and data analytics development. Also important in this role is the ability to evaluate and analyze complex information including management and governance processes and a desire to help people understand that information. The primary objectives for this role are to:
• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets project requirements and organizational standards.
• Gain a deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content.
• Write user-friendly content that meets the target audience's needs, turning insights into language for user success.
• Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
• Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement.

Essential Functions:
• Conduct research and work with Subject Matter Experts to gather relevant technical information and working closely with various departments to understand requirements for the project.
• Develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, policies, technical specifications, maintenance documentation, and process documentation in support of projects and Client Corporate Security 4 Project Document Controller - Writer Client CS department needs.
• Write user-friendly content that meets the target audience's needs, turning insights into language for user success.
• Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories and determine the best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
• Enforce document change control processes and maintain version histories including the capability to easily identify what has changed between versions.
• Develop content for websites and other online media including alternative media forms for usability, with a consistent message across all documentation.
• Be able to communicate with their clients and users about their needs and standards and respond to any feedback.
• Be capable of working on several projects at the same time and be able to effectively manage their time to meet project deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree required OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Demonstrated instructional writing skills and experience to provide clear and concise direction on technically complex equipment
• Proficiency in communicating technical information to various stakeholders and related technical staff
• Edit and proofread their own work and the work of other specialists to ensure the documents they create are free of grammatical mistakes and technical inaccuracies.
• Self-starter with project management skills, constructive critical thinking skills, organizational skills, and ability to work independently
• Proficient PC skills, with expert command of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Flexibility to work extended hours if required

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6-9 years of experience
• Knowledge in technical fields such as physical security, engineering, computer science, or information systems.
• Demonstrated experience/working knowledge of various data management business systems including Procurement, Work Management, Business Operations, and Training
• Some experience in railroad related or similar transportation or industrial activity with well-developed understanding of technical concepts, terms, and various fleet and equipment nomenclature. Interpersonal Skills
• Strong interpersonal and time management skills
