As a Youth Permanency Specialist, you'll work directly with youth and families to help them understand their permanency needs, process their history, and strengthen the relationships that support long-term connection.

This position is primarily remote, with regular travel throughout Lane County, Oregon to meet with youth, caregivers, and community partners. Must reside in the local area.

What You'll Do
  • Review case plans, evaluations, and background materials to understand each youth's needs
  • Collaborate with ODHS staff, caregivers, CASA volunteers, and community partners
  • Provide direct services using models such as:
    • 3-5-7© Model and Life Story Work
    • Trauma-informed parenting strategies (including Collaborative Problem Solving)
    • Engagement with natural supports and family members
  • Support youth in exploring their permanency goals, processing losses, and rebuilding connections
  • Facilitate clarification work, visits, and relationship transitions
  • Support resource families in preparing youth for reunification, adoption, guardianship, or long-term foster care
  • Maintain timely case notes, reports, and documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and agency trainings (including some in-person meetings at Portland headquarters)
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree + 2 years of experience in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
    • OR equivalent education and experience
  • Familiarity with the ODHS Child Welfare system, child development, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience supporting youth with behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional needs
  • Strong communication skills-verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and empathy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems (including ETO)
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel regularly within Lane County
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to provide official or unofficial transcripts
Preferred:
  • Direct service experience with youth and families
  • Lived or professional experience with foster care
  • Bilingual/bicultural (English/Spanish)
