Composite Engineer
Location: Mesa, AZ
Hourly rate: $50.00 - $55.00
Contractor benefits: Medical, Vision, Dental, 401k
Second Shift: 1pm to 10:30pm
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Seeking a 2nd shift motivated collaborative associate or experienced Composites M&P (Materials and Processes) Engineer to join our Composite Materials Fabrication Site in Mesa, Arizona.
Required:
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (And a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' experience or a Master's degree.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift.

What you'll do:
• Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
• Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication.
• Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions for material and process issues.
• Create and execute test plans, write reports and input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes.
• Qualify and approve equipment, materials and processes.
• Guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory.
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
• Travel to suppliers as needed.
• Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines.
• Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into your work.
• This role is full-time 2nd shift and is expected to be 100% onsite.
Preferred Skills:
• 2+ years working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques.
• Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques.
• Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.
• Experience with composite failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and failure analysis.
• Experience in technical specifications, reports, and test plans.
• Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office.
• Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
